Precise shadow casting was too slow, so I added simpler, fast method for shadowing.
Also, I'm working here on my old Athlon XP 1500+, so I've added support for lower details because the gameplay started to slow down - just a little bit. That's how it looks in lower detail and with shadows.

I've manged to do the battle system, some graphics and animation. Before leaving a comment please remember that this is still a huge 'work in progress' (no shadows, no allies, only one orc model etc) but it gives a glimpse of how the game will feel like.

I think they really need a shadow casting system now, though... :)

The first demo version will contain the Battle of the Last Alliance, as seen in the prologue of the Fellowship of the Ring movie. The player will join the fight against the hordes of Mordor on the slopes of Mount Doom.

The Battles of the Third Age begins!

BotTA is an upcoming PC game, where the player will take part in the major and minor battles of the War of the Ring, experiencing them from the eyes of both ordinary soldier’s and heroes. It’s an answer to my disappointment in the LotR games released by big companies, such as the horrible LotR: Conquest.
The concept of the game will be similar, but I’m trying to keep things very realistic. No glowing swords or superpowers but thousands of troops on the battlefields, with an original and pleasant fighting system. Slaying orcs has never been so much fun.
There are going to be featured locations such as the Helms Deep, Mines of Moria, Minas Tirith, Fords of Isen, and Black Gate and more.
